W Porters Grange naszym celem jest zapewnienie każdemu dziecku szerokiego i zrównoważonego programu nauczania, który sprzyja rosnącej wiedzy i zrozumieniu podczas rozwijania umiejętności. Dążymy do tego, aby program nauczania aktywnie angażował uczniów i umożliwiał dobre lub lepsze postępy. Jako szkoła uczymy historii, geografii, sztuki i technologii projektowania (DT) w ramach naszego „Connected Curriculum”. Inne przedmioty, takie jak PSHE, RE, francuski, muzyka i wychowanie fizyczne są nauczane osobno, chociaż nawiązuje się z nimi powiązania, kiedy to naprawdę wzbogaci możliwości uczenia się. Wierzymy, że to połączone podejście pozwala dzieciom na tworzenie powiązań między umiejętnościami, których używają w każdym przedmiocie i na utrwalenie ich nauki w różnych obszarach. W ramach Connected Curriculum uczy się również języka angielskiego, matematyki i obsługi komputera. Wszyscy uczniowie uczestniczą w codziennych lekcjach języka angielskiego, które koncentrują się na rozwoju kluczowych umiejętności ortograficznych, słownictwa, gramatyki i interpunkcji. Wszystkie dzieci są zachęcane do samodzielnego pisania, często wykorzystując jako bodziec dobrze znane historie. Oprócz codziennych lekcji angielskiego, Phonics jest nauczany w KS1, a ortografia i pisanie odręczne są nauczane w całej szkole.

W Porters Grange uczymy „Syntetycznej foniki” za pomocą programu „Litery i dźwięki”. Dzieci są wprowadzane do I etapu programu w naszym żłobku. Podczas Etapu Fundacji dzieci dowiadują się, że słowa są rozbijane na małe jednostki dźwiękowe, zwane fonemami. W klasach 1 i 2 dzieci nauczą się wszystkich 44 fonemów (lub dźwięków) w języku angielskim.

Faza pierwsza liter i dźwięków koncentruje się na rozwijaniu umiejętności mówienia i słuchania przez dzieci i kładzie podwaliny pod prace foniczne, które rozpoczynają się w fazie 2. W fazie 1 nacisk kładzie się na rozpoznanie dźwięków wokół dzieci i przygotowanie ich do opracowania miksowania ustnego i umiejętności segmentacji.
Faza 1 jest podzielona na siedem aspektów. Każdy aspekt zawiera trzy wątki:

* Dostrojenie do dźwięków (dyskryminacja słuchowa)

* Słuchanie i zapamiętywanie dźwięków (pamięć słuchowa i sekwencjonowanie)

* Mówienie o dźwiękach (rozwijanie słownictwa i rozumienia języka)

Następnie dzieci przechodzą przez fazy od 2 do 6 podczas etapu kluczowego 1. Uczą się czytać i literować słowa, korzystając z wiedzy fonicznej. W naszych codziennych sesjach fonicznych korzystamy z szerokiej gamy technik i zasobów dydaktycznych. Na przykład w klasie 1 dzieci będą proszone o czytanie słów podczas sesji nauczania liter i dźwięków. Niektóre słowa to prawdziwe słowa, a inne to pseudo słowa (lub obce słowa).


Nauka foniki jest kontynuowana przez cały etap kluczowy 2, aby wspierać i rozwijać umiejętności czytania i ortografii.

Czytając książki

Na początku nasze dzieci poznają różne książki, które można odszyfrować. Pomagają one w zapoznaniu naszych dzieci z różnymi dźwiękami liter fonicznych. Posiadamy również szeroką gamę książek do czytania, zarówno beletrystycznych, jak i literatury faktu, aby umożliwić dzieciom rozwijanie umiejętności czytania i poszerzanie ich doświadczenia z różnymi tekstami. Czytanie jest nauczane poprzez samodzielne, prowadzone przez całą klasę czytanie (warstwowe). Oczekuje się, że dzieci będą regularnie czytać w domu, aby rozwinąć rozpoznawanie słów, płynność i przyjemność z czytania.

Dzieci w naszej szkole wypożyczają książki z naszej wspaniałej biblioteki, która ma szeroki wybór tekstów beletrystycznych i non-fiction. Dzieci co tydzień odwiedzają bibliotekę ze swoją klasą i są zachęcane do wybrania maksymalnie 3 książek do wyboru. Te książki można zabrać do domu, aby podzielić się nimi z rodziną i przyjaciółmi.

W Porters Grange Primary and Nursery School wierzymy, że matematyka jest narzędziem w życiu codziennym. To cała sieć pojęć i relacji, które dają sposób patrzenia na świat i nadawania mu sensu. Program:

W klasach od 1 do 6 używamy matematyki bez problemu. Maths No Problem to program oparty na singapurskiej metodzie nauczania matematyki i jest prowadzony w grupach o zróżnicowanym poziomie zdolności. Uważamy również, że umiejętności matematyczne należy rozwijać i odnosić się do nich w całym programie nauczania, a nauczyciele w miarę ich pojawiania się jasno określają powiązania z dziećmi.

PSHE i RSE

Nasz program nauczania kładzie duży nacisk na umiejętności emocjonalne, budowanie odporności i pielęgnowanie zdrowia psychicznego i fizycznego, tak aby dzieci mogły w pełni wykorzystać swój potencjał i pozytywnie wpłynąć na zróżnicowane społeczeństwo, w którym żyjemy. W naszym programie nauczania osadzamy chronione cechy rasy, orientacji seksualnej, wiary i przekonań, płci, niepełnosprawności, tożsamości płciowej, małżeństwa i związku partnerskiego, ciąży i macierzyństwa oraz wieku.

Nasz program nauczania jest inspirowany i prowadzony przez stowarzyszenie PSHE, umożliwiając naszym dzieciom zgłębianie trzech podstawowych tematów: Zdrowie i dobre samopoczucie, Życie w szerszym świecie i Relacje. Dzieci mają możliwość zgłębienia każdego z tych tematów dwukrotnie w ciągu roku akademickiego. Poprzez nauczanie PSHE i RSE wspieramy nasze dzieci w obronie siebie, oczekiwaniu szacunku i umiejętności mówienia „nie” poprzez naukę wyrażania zgody. Nasze przeglądy PSHE dodatkowo pozwalają na elastyczność programu nauczania w celu eksplorowania przedmiotów, które są istotne w życiu szkoły i naszej społeczności w tym czasie.

We wczesnych latach dzieciom pomaga się radzić sobie z emocjami, rozwijać pozytywne poczucie siebie, stawiać sobie proste cele i mieć wiarę we własne możliwości.

W kluczowym etapie 1 i 2 wstępna ocena tematu jest włączona do naszego przeglądu, aby umożliwić dostosowanie do potrzeb indywidualnych i grupowych. Następnie planowane są nasze cotygodniowe lekcje, aby umożliwić postęp w wiedzy, umiejętnościach i słownictwie. Jednak mamy również możliwość co tydzień eksplorować PSHE i RSE poprzez dyskusje i zajęcia międzyprzedmiotowe.
